Liberty Eagle for The Town of Mooresville, North Carolina’s Veterans

Charles Bergen Studios is proposing a sculpture of a bald eagle landing on a pentagonal granite base. The bronze eagle sculpture titled “Liberty” will be six feet wide, four foot from top of head to bottom of the bronze base and four foot from head to tail. The eagle will be shown in flight just as it lands on a sphere. The eagle symbolizes Mooresville’s Veterans and the sacrifices that they have made to keep us free. The sphere symbolizes the Earth and the actions all over the world that the Town’s Veterans have taken part in and even lost their lives in.

The Bronze Eagle is symbolic of strong and dynamic, watching the air and protecting the memory and actions of the Veterans. The Granite Base will be sourced locally from Mt. Airy Granite and cut and fabricated in North Carolina. The base will be approximately 40” tall and about 27” inches on a side. The five top panels of the base will have a gentle slope. The artist will work with the Town and the community to develop text to go on three of these five sloped areas. The surrounding plantings can be used to place small flags with cast iron medallions for to remember the conflicts that a town veteran was involved in. The sandblasted areas will be coated with lithichrome stone paint so that they are easily readable.
