Linsert Residence, Little Washington, Virginia: 6,300 SF geothermal house on 80 acres; One Story above grade and one below grade with walkout garage-style ramp for vehicular access. The Owners described themselves as sky people and wanted a glass-roofed space for the public rooms —the living room, kitchen, and entry hall. The house I conceived has a glass conservatory structure from an English conservatory maker at the center of the home housing the public rooms. Balanced wings lead off of the open, glass-roofed space to the bedrooms. Three geothermal wells serve the geothermal heating and cooling system while a large solar array hidden behind a small hill provides all the electric needs for the house.
